New Commemorative Coin: 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

The Government of India is preparing to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with nationwide and international celebrations, reflecting the enduring influence of the Father of the Nation. Unlike standard silver coins, which typically weigh 35 grams and consist of a silver-copper-nickel-zinc alloy, the proposed coin is expected to be struck in pure silver, weighing 40 grams. 

A high-level panel, led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has outlined plans to transform the 150th birth anniversary into a global celebration of Gandhiji’s life and ideals. The panel aims to create awareness not only within India but also internationally, highlighting Gandhiji’s principles of truth, non-violence, equality, and social justice. Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for RSS Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the ₹100  commemorative coin  issued to mark the 100 Years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The bookings are open from October 7, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, on October 1, 2025, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp to mark the event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ₹100 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a booklet pack. It remains to be seen whether the Mint will also issue the UNC Set with a booklet pack or the Proof Set with an MDF box.  The ₹100 coin is priced at ₹8,410 for the Proof Set, which comes packaged with a booklet pack.
