New Commemorative Coin: 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

The Government of India is gearing up to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on a grand scale.

In line with these celebratory efforts, there are discussions about issuing a commemorative coin of ₹150 to honor the significant milestone of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th Birth Anniversary.

If all assumptions hold true, the Rs 150 coin is projected to have a standard weight of 35 grams, comprising 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, and 5 percent each of nickel and zinc.

The panel led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions transforming Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary into a global event, seeking to enhance awareness about Gandhiji worldwide. It is crucial that the celebration of this occasion is conducted in a manner that perpetuates Mahatma Gandhi's legacy, ensuring he remains a perennial source of inspiration for generations to come.

In addition to the aforementioned coin, there are plans to release other commemorative coins, including those marking the Birth centenary of Dr. M. G. Ramachandran and the 350th Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Gobind Singh.
