New Commemorative Coin: Platinum Jubilee of National Defence Academy

The Government of India will issue a commemorative coin of ₹75 on the occasion of Platinum Jubilee Celebration of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on November 17, 2023, confirming this event.

The National Defence Academy (NDA) proudly marks its '75 Glorious Years' on January 16, 2024. To celebrate this milestone, a year-long series of commemorative activities highlighting its achievements across various domains will be held from January 19, 2023, to January 16, 2024. These activities serve as a fitting tribute to the visionary founders of the Academy and also pay homage to the sacrifices made by its alumni in safeguarding our nation.

The Passing out Parade (POP) for the 145th course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune is scheduled for November 30, 2023. President Smt. Draupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, will preside over the parade. This event, one of the nation's most prestigious military ceremonies, signifies the culmination of the rigorous three-year training at the academy. Simultaneously, the Convocation ceremony for the 145th Course will take place on November 29, with the esteemed presence of Dr. Suresh Gosavi, Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule University. This ceremony acknowledges the academic achievements of the graduating cadets and adds a significant dimension to the overall commemoration of their training and education at the NDA.

The metal composition of the ₹75 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “75” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear the image of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune building at the center. On the upper periphery of the coin, the inscription "राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी, खड़कवासला” shall be written in Devanagari script and the inscription "National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla" in English shall be depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. Below the image of the National Defence Academy building, the logo commemorating '75 Glorious Years' of the National Defence Academy shall be inscribed. To the left of this logo, the year "1949" and to the right, the year "2024" shall be inscribed.
