President Murmu Unveils ₹75 Coin on National Defence Academy

The Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu released a ₹75 commemorative coin, a postal stamp and first day cover to mark the 75 Glorious Years of the National Defence Academy at NDA, Khadakwasla, Pune on November 30, 2023.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that the NDA stands as a cradle of leadership that has shaped some of the nation’s finest warriors. She noted that the Academy holds a distinguished position among the country’s premier training institutions and serves as a steadfast pillar for the armed forces and the nation. Expressing confidence in the cadets’ future, she said that the training and values imbibed at NDA will guide them throughout their lives. She encouraged them to embrace new technologies and innovations to meet emerging challenges, and assured them that the values of the Armed Services will empower them to face every test with courage and determination.

The President expressed her delight at witnessing women cadets take part as a marching contingent in the NDA passing-out parade for the first time, calling it a truly historic moment. She said she was confident that these cadets would lead the Academy and the nation to greater heights in the years to come.

Emphasizing the importance of national security, the President said that the protection of India’s borders and internal stability is vital for peace, progress and prosperity. While India upholds the ancient ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, she stressed that the country’s armed forces remain fully prepared to counter any external or internal threat to its unity and integrity.

This release marks the 15th commemorative coin of the year 2023, minted by the India Government Mint, Hyderabad. The bookings are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website and will be updated in the current and upcoming bookings section.
