MEA to Release ₹200 and ₹10 Coins on Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji

The long-awaited commemorative coin with denominations of ₹200 and ₹10, intended to celebrate the '2nd Birth Centenary of Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji,' is finally scheduled for release in a week or two, coinciding with the occasion of his 208th Birth Anniversary.

As per reports, Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi, Minister of External Affairs (MEA) and Culture, will be attending the event as part of the 208th Parkash Purab of Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji.

Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji Kuka, a revered spiritual leader and social reformer, left an indelible mark on history with his teachings and transformative impact on society. Born on 3 February 1816, in Bhaini, Punjab, Satguru Ram Singh Ji emerged as a beacon of inspiration during a crucial period in India's history. His teachings, principles, and the Kuka Movement played a pivotal role in shaping the socio-religious landscape of the time.

Initially planned for release in 2016 to mark the event, this commemorative coin theme has encountered significant delays. Despite the Ministry of Finance confirming the issue of the coin through gazette notification on June 3, 2019, the release has been postponed.

A similar theme was released in 2012 to commemorate the '150 Years of Kuka Movement,' showcasing the portrait of Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji. Nevertheless, that particular commemorative coin theme also faced delays, being released in 2012 instead of the initially planned year of 2007.

This should signify the 4th or 5th commemorative coin release for the year 2024. The possibility and upcoming coins page have been updated for your reference.

Update as of February 9, 2024:

The releasing ceremony event is scheduled to take place on February 11, 2024, at Namdhari Gurudwara Ramesh Nagar, Delhi.
