Mumbai Mint Opens Bookings for Dr. Panjabrao and 75th Republic Day Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has started accepting bookings for the commemorative coins issued to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Panjabrao Alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh and the 75th Republic Day Celebrations. Bookings commenced on June 7, 2024, and are subject to limited availability.

The ₹125 coin of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh and the ₹75 coin of the 75th Republic Day Celebrations are issued in Proof and UNC sets, available in Folder/Blister packages and Proof Sets with MDF Boxes.

The ₹125 coin issued in honour of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh, included in the Folder/Blister packaging within the Proof Set, is priced at ₹4,280, while the UNC Set is available for ₹3,975. Additionally, the Proof Set with the MDF/Wooden Box is priced at ₹4,710.

The ₹75 coin issued to commemorate the 75th Republic Day Celebrations is priced at ₹6,670 for the Proof Set, while the UNC Set is priced at ₹6,465. Additionally, the Proof Set with the MDF/Wooden Box is priced at ₹7,045.

It is worth noting that the metal composition of the Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh coin is a quaternary alloy, weighing 35 grams with a diameter of 44 mm and 200 serrations along the edge. The 75th Republic Day celebrations coin is made of pure silver (99.9%), weighing 40 grams with a diameter of 44 mm and 200 serrations along the edge.

Although collectors are likely to see these coins as valuable additions to their collections, given the significance of the events they represent, the increased prices will certainly impact numismatists and collectors now and going forward.
