New Commemorative Coin: Shri Harakhchand Nahata

The Government of India will issue a commemorative coin with a denomination of ₹25 to mark the 25th Commemoration of Shri Harakhchand Nahata. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on December 31, 2024, confirming this coin.

Shri Harakhchand Nahata was a prominent industrialist, philanthropist, and social reformer known for his significant contributions to society and the economy. A visionary entrepreneur, he played a key role in establishing successful ventures in various industries, leaving a lasting legacy of innovation and service. Beyond his business acumen, he was deeply committed to uplifting the underprivileged, supporting educational initiatives, and promoting social welfare. His life and work continue to inspire many, embodying values of integrity, compassion, and dedication to nation-building.

The metal composition of the ₹25 coin will consist of Pure Silver (99.9%). The coin will weigh 40 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “25” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear the image of Shri Harakhchand Nahata in the centre of the coin. The inscription “श्री हरखचन्द नाहटा का 25वां स्मरणोत्सव shall be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery of the coin and the inscription “25th Commemoration of Shri Harakhchand Nahata” in English shall be depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. The year “1936”, “1999” and “2024” shall be written on the left side, the right side and the down side of the image of Shri Harakhchand Nahata in international numbers respectively.
