New Commemorative Coin: Acharya Jawahar Lal Ji Maharaj
The Government of India will issue a ₹150 commemorative coin to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Acharya Jawahar Lal Ji Maharaj. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on September 1, 2025, confirming this coin.
Acharya Shri Jawahar Lal Ji Maharaj was a revered Jain saint known for his profound wisdom, spiritual leadership, and dedication to spreading the teachings of Lord Mahavira. Through his compassionate discourses and deep knowledge of Jain philosophy, he inspired countless individuals to live a life rooted in truth, non-violence, and self-discipline. His legacy continues to guide devotees on the path of righteousness and inner peace.
The metal composition of the ₹150 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.
Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “150” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.
Reverse: This face of the coin shall feature the portrait of ACHARYA JAWAHAR LAL JI MAHARAJ at the center. The year “1875” in international numerals shall be inscribed on the left side and the year “2025” shall be inscribed on the right side of the portrait. On the upper periphery of the coin, the inscription “आचार्य जवाहर लाल जी महाराज की 150 वीं जयंती” shall be written in Devanagari script, and the inscription “150th Birth Anniversary of Acharya Jawahar Lal Ji Maharaj” in English shall be inscribed on the bottom periphery of the coin.
