The India Government Mint, Hyderabad, has commenced the bookings for the ₹50 commemorative coin issued to mark the 50 Years of NHPC Limited. The bookings are open from November 7, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability.
Earlier on November 6, 2025, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, released the commemorative coin to mark the completion of 50 years of NHPC Limited in New Delhi. The occasion was graced by the presence of Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Ministry of Power, Government of India; Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC; and Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC. NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower Navratna company under the Ministry of Power, is celebrating a momentous milestone.
The ₹50 coin is currently issued in a Proof Set with a Booklet and Cardboard (Kappa) Box packaging. It remains to be seen whether the Hyderabad Mint will also release the Proof and UNC Sets in folder packaging, as well as the Proof Set in an MDF box.
The ₹50 coin in the Proof Set with the Booklet package is priced at ₹5,410, while the Proof Set with the Cardboard (Kappa) Box is priced at ₹5,480.
This commemorative coin, issued to celebrate this remarkable milestone, is undoubtedly a prestigious addition to any collection, especially for numismatists who focus on themes of national development and India’s leading public sector enterprises. It also holds special appeal for collectors interested in stock market–related or corporate-themed issues.
These coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the current and upcoming bookings section.
