New Commemorative Coin: Dredging Corporation of India Limited

The Government of India will issue a ₹50 commemorative coin to mark the Golden Jubilee of Dredging Corporation of India Limited. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on May 26, 2026, confirming this coin.

Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCI) is a Government of India–linked maritime company established in 1976 and headquartered in Visakhapatnam. It specialises in dredging operations that involve the removal of silt and sediments from ports, harbours, and shipping channels to maintain navigable depths. The company plays a crucial role in supporting India’s port infrastructure and maritime trade by ensuring safe and efficient movement of vessels.

DCI operates a fleet of specialised dredgers and undertakes both maintenance and capital dredging projects across major Indian ports. It has contributed significantly to the development and expansion of key ports such as Visakhapatnam, Paradip, Chennai, and Cochin. The organisation continues to modernise its operations and expand into new marine infrastructure areas to support India’s growing blue economy.

The metal composition of the ₹50 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “50” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear the image of a dredger vessel in the centre of the coin. The inscription “ड्रेजिंग कॉर्पोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया लि.” in Devanagari script shall be inscribed on the upper periphery of the coin and below it, “स्वर्ण जयंती” in Devanagari script and “Golden Jubilee” in English shall be inscribed. The inscription “Dredging Corporation of India Ltd.” in English shall be inscribed on the lower periphery of the coin. The year “1976 - 2026” in international numerals shall be inscribed below the image of dredger vessel. On both sides of the image of dredger vessel, there shall be an image of anchor.
