Union Health Secretary Releases ₹60 Coin on HLL Lifecare Limited
The Union Health Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, released the ₹60 commemorative coin marking the Diamond Jubilee of HLL Lifecare Limited on May 18, 2026. The coin was unveiled during the valedictory function held at the HLL Peroorkada Factory in Thiruvananthapuram, marking the organisation’s 60 years of dedicated service towards advancing public health in India.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the leadership of HLL Lifecare Limited, Shri Ajit N, Director (Marketing), Shri Remesh P, Director (Finance), Shri Benny Joseph, Director (Technical and Operations), along with other senior officers and trade union representatives of HLL Lifecare Limited.
Addressing the gathering, Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, Union Health Secretary, highlighted the strong trust placed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in HLL Lifecare Limited for its continued commitment towards ensuring affordable and quality healthcare for all, in line with the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
She commended HLL for identifying critical gaps in the healthcare system and addressing them through impactful interventions that have significantly benefited patients, particularly women. She also noted that initiatives such as the AMRIT Pharmacy network and the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana have improved access to affordable medicines across the country.
Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava further stated that AMRIT Pharmacies have enabled patients to access critical medicines, including cancer drugs and medical devices, at prices significantly lower than market rates, providing substantial financial relief to families.
Recalling HLL’s role during Operation Sindoor, she appreciated the organisation’s swift supply of medicines, medical equipment, and BHISHM cubes to Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, reflecting its preparedness and commitment during emergencies.
Concluding her remarks, she praised HLL Lifecare Limited for maintaining high standards of transparency, integrity, and public service, while reaffirming the Ministry’s continued confidence in the organisation.
This release marks the 8th commemorative coin of the year 2026, minted by the India Government Mint, Hyderabad. The bookings for the Proof and UNC sets are expected to open soon on the official India Government Mint website and will be updated under the current and upcoming bookings section.
