President Murmu to Release the ₹100 Coin on N T Rama Rao

The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, is scheduled to release the much-awaited ₹100 commemorative coin marking the Birth Centennial Year of Shri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, widely known as NTR, on August 28, 2023 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. This prestigious event honors one of India’s most celebrated cultural and political icons.

The official invitation for the ceremony was shared by Smt. Daggubati Purandeswari, daughter of NTR, former Union Minister of Human Resource Development (Education), and the current State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh. Her announcement has generated widespread anticipation among admirers, historians, and numismatists alike.

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (28 May 1923 – 18 January 1996) was an iconic Indian actor, filmmaker, and statesman. Revered as Viswa Vikhyatha Nata Sarwa Bhouma (Universal Emperor of Acting), he appeared in over 300 films, predominantly in Telugu cinema, portraying mythological, historical, and social roles that left an enduring imprint on Indian film history. Beyond his cinematic legacy, NTR emerged as a transformative political leader. As the founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), he served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh across three terms, championing administrative reforms and regional pride.

The Ministry of Finance, through its gazette notification dated March 20, 2023, confirmed the issuance of this coin in honor of NTR’s centenary. This coin release is expected to draw national attention, celebrating NTR’s unparalleled contributions to cinema, culture, and public service, while also marking another significant milestone in India’s commemorative coin history. Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for RSS Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the ₹100  commemorative coin  issued to mark the 100 Years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The bookings are open from October 7, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, on October 1, 2025, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp to mark the event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ₹100 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a booklet pack. It remains to be seen whether the Mint will also issue the UNC Set with a booklet pack or the Proof Set with an MDF box.  The ₹100 coin is priced at ₹8,410 for the Proof Set, which comes packaged with a booklet pack.
