Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot Releases Coins on Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan
The Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, alongside Jainacharya Shri Jin Piyush Sagar Surishwarji, released commemorative coins and postal stamps dedicated to Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan on December 25, 2024, at Ostara Jain Tirtham, Bhopalgarh, District Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The coins are denominated at ₹900 for the 2900th Janm Kalyanak and ₹800 for the 2800th Nirvan Kalyanak.
The event was organized by the Shri Parshwanath Jinalaya Mahabalipuram Tirth Nyas and the Shri Ostara Parshwanath Jain Shwetamber Murtipujak Trust.
Both coins are crafted from pure silver (99.9%), weigh 40 grams, measure 44 mm in diameter, and feature 200 serrations along the edge. While sharing the same theme, the ₹900 and ₹800 coins are distinct commemorations, reflecting their unique inscriptions and significance.
This marks the first time in the history of Republic India coinage that two different coins commemorating a single individual, one for the Janm Kalyanak (Birth Anniversary) and another for the Nirvan Kalyanak (Death Anniversary), have been released together.
This also marks the 22nd and 23rd commemorative coin releases for the year 2024, minted by the India Government Mint, Mumbai. The bookings are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website and will be updated in the current and upcoming bookings section.
