New Commemorative Coin: Jammu-Srinagar Railway Line

The Government of India will issue a ₹100 commemorative coin on occasion of commissioning of the Jammu–Srinagar Railway Line, featuring the Chenab Bridge. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on February 6, 2025, confirming this coin.

The Jammu–Srinagar Railway Line Commission marks the completion of a vital railway project connecting Jammu and Srinagar under the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL). This engineering marvel enhances connectivity, reduces travel time, and provides an all-weather transport alternative to the region’s often-disrupted roadways. Featuring the Chenab Bridge, the world's highest railway bridge, and the Banihal Tunnel, the project strengthens trade, tourism, and economic integration in Jammu & Kashmir. Its commissioning represents a significant step toward regional development, ensuring seamless connectivity between the valley and the rest of India.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “100” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of coin shall bear the image of Chenab Bridge in the centre of the coin. The inscription “जम्मू – श्रीनगर रेलवे लाइन” shall be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery and the inscription “Jammu – Srinagar Railway Line” in English is depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. The inscription “चिनाब सेतु” in Devanagari script, the inscription “Chenab Bridge” in English and the year “2025” in international numeral shall be written above the image of Chenab Bridge.

The issuance of a commemorative coin on the Jammu–Srinagar Railway Line will mark a historic achievement in connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India, enhancing trade, tourism, and regional integration. The upcoming and possibility coins page have been updated for your reference.
