120th Anniversary of Hyderabad Mint Celebrated with a Souvenir Token

The Additional Charge of Chairman and Managing Director of SPMCIL, Shri Sunil Kumar Sinha, released a commemorative souvenir token celebrating the 120th Anniversary of the India Government Mint, Hyderabad on July 13, 2023, at the Mint Museum in Saifabad.

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Shri Ajay Agarwal, Director (Finance), SPMCIL, Shri Srikara Pradhan, Chief General Manager, Security Printing Press, Hyderabad, Shri V. N. R. Nayudu, Chief General Manager, India Government Mint, Hyderabad, Dr. Deme Raja Reddy, and other officials who gathered to celebrate this historic milestone.

The souvenir tokens, crafted in both silver and copper, pay tribute to the mint’s remarkable legacy and its significant contributions to the field of coinage and minting in India. 

Each piece reflects the mint’s long-standing tradition of excellence, dating back to its origins under the Nizam and continuing through its modern role as a key unit of SPMCIL. 

In his address, Shri Sinha highlighted the mint’s dedication to preserving India’s numismatic heritage and praised its steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, precision, and security in the production of coins, medals, and other minted products.

The commemorative token has been released in three variants: a 10-gram silver token priced at ₹1,100, a 50-gram copper token priced at ₹450, and an 8-gram copper token priced at ₹150.

These tokens are available for collectors and visitors at the India Government Mint, Hyderabad sales counter. 

In addition to the anniversary release, the mint also introduced the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav coin set, presented in a special collectible package priced at ₹500. This set serves as yet another meaningful keepsake, commemorating the 75th year of Independence and celebrating the nation’s rich legacy.
